Type Locality and Naming

Subsurface: Interval 1080 to 1425 m in well Banni-2 (Zutshi et al., 1993).

Lithology and Thickness

Calcareous sandstone, mottled claystone with minor limestone and marl. Plant impressions are observed in the upper part of the formation along with carbonaceous matter. In the type section it is 345 m thick; in well Nirona-1 it is only 60 m.
